TT$10,000.00
Lord Kitchener, born Aldwyn Roberts in 1922 in Arima, Trinidad, was one of the most celebrated calypsonians in the history of Trinidad and Tobago. Renowned for his witty and socially conscious lyrics, he was a master of calypso music, a genre known for its rhythmic storytelling and commentary on social and political issues. Kitchener began his career in the 1940s and gained international fame after moving to England in 1948, where he became a key figure in popularizing calypso music worldwide. His songs, such as "London is the Place for Me" and "Sugar Bum Bum," remain iconic. He was a prolific composer and performer, contributing significantly to the evolution of calypso music and its recognition as a Caribbean cultural treasure until his passing in 2000.
